Wishlist

It’s come to my attention that I’ll be not only celebrating some holidays soon (not the least of which is my half birthday), but I’ll also be graduating.  Now, I wouldn’t want you scratching your head trying to figure out what to get me, so I’ve compiled a wish list to ease the process (if you can’t feel the sarcasm now… well it’s here, I promise).  Anyway, if you are so inclined as to get me something for whatever, here’s a list of things that I need, think are awesome and don’t have.  I’ll try to come back to this list from time to time and update it with other things that I’ve found.  And yes, I realize that half of these things are ridiculously expensive, but a boy can dream can’t he?

  • Alesis DM5 electronic drum set with the Surge cymbal pack - $800 - I love playing drums and acoustic drums are obviously not an option for an apartment.  This is the set that I’ve had my heart set on for some time now.  There are other, more expensive kits that are better, but this does more than most, and certainly enough for me.  Plus, with this I’ll be able to record drums again on my computer!
  • Canon Vixia HF11 HD camcorder with 32GB of flash memory - $900-1200 - I’d really like to have a digital camcorder.  I don’t have a kid or anything, but I’d love to be able to film things.  I could upload videos to the web, and even post stuff on my website so everyone can remember what I look and sound like.  Super fun.  Ok, for real, I’d be eternally grateful to the person who gets me this camera.  I could possibly use it to cover Macworld in January!
  • Apple LED Cinema Display - $899 - This is the brand new top of the line Apple display.  It’s the best of the best and is made to work extra nicely with my new MacBook Pro.  This thing is sweet and I really could use an external display for my laptop.  Increased screen space means increased usability, and that’s a good thing.
  • Apple Airport or Apple Time Capsule - $179 or $499 - because I’ll need to have wireless internet in my apartment.  The second one (Time Capsule) has a built in 1TB hard drive (that’s a lot of space).  I’d rather have the Time Capsule, but I’d be pretty happy with the Airport.  Just make sure it has Wireless N (all of the new ones do).
  • Apple Airport Express - mostly for it’s ability to connect a remote USB device or power speakers elsewhere in the apartment.  I’d prefer to have one of the two above options before this.  Again, make sure it has Wireless N (follow the link if you are unsure at Best Buy or something).
  • Roomba - $150 - $499 - I’m going to need a vacuum, but you know that I won’t want to actually vacuum.  Plus this thing runs all by itself, like when I’m gone!  Perfect!  I linked to the most expensive one that I could find.  I’d prefer an all black one, but I’d settle for an all white or possibly grey.
  • Garmin nuvi 760 or 265WT - $249.29 - $277.99 - Scratch this.  Sorry, I beat you to it.  I just bought the Garmin nuvi 760.
  • Philips Sonicare FlexCare with Sanitizer - $136.99 - I need a new Sonicare toothbrush and you know me… this is the best.  Now, I’m not going to claim that I have a dirty mouth, but a sanitizer would be a nice thing to have.  This model also is much smaller than the one I’ve had for some time now.
  • LED Menorah - $19.99 - You know you have both a geek and a Jew on your hand when I put this on the list.  It’s an electronic menorah that looks like a motherboard.  It’s powered by a single 9v battery that also functions as part of the base.  It couldn’t get much more nerdtastic.
  • Green Laser Pointer 5mW - $17.74 - this is one of my favorite website for random and cheap gadgets.  They have quite a few green laser pointers, but this is the only one I like (it’s pen style and takes 2 AAAs) that is in stock.  Plus, in the US, we aren’t allowed to have green laser pointers with power higher than 5mW.  If you’re getting this for me, you’d better order now, it takes about a month to import stuff from this place.
  • Money - because gift cards restrict me to a particular store, and maybe they don’t have the best deal.  You wouldn’t want me to waste your gift now would you?

Caution, sign may be awesome

I’ve always enjoyed pointless signage.  So I decided to make one of my own.  Like it?

A lot of people like to think this is the rock hand, or the ‘horns,’ but it’s not.  I actually enjoy the confusion because I like to throw this sign instead when I (or someone close by) is rocking.  You may know this as the ASL sign for love.

This will make it all bettter

Ok, my apologies about the downtime on the website.  I’m not really sure what happened, but I’m upgrading Wordpress, and that seems to have taken care of it.  That most likely means nothing to you.  Anyway…

Just to make up for the downtime, I wanted to repost my favorite short video of at least the past year.  If you don’t love this video, then I just don’t know what to say.  It’s amazing, and it gets me every time.

You’re welcome.

Fourth Street Live

Ok, so I forgot to mention the incident at Fourth Street Live. Security is harder to get through here than at the airport. I almost didn’t get in. Of course, my ID doesn’t really look a whole lot like me. I think I’m going to make getting a new pic for that a top priority.
